The Misery of Travel Over the Holidays

Long ago I vowed never to fly or drive over Thanksgiving after years of flight delays and traffic jams. Christmas has a larger time frame but I have found that flying on Christmas Eve, later in the day, and returning on New Year's Eve or New Year's Day to be rather seamless days to travel to see loved ones. It has worked well for many years and hopefully in 2016.

About Patricia Lynn Hough

Based in Venice, Florida, and semi-retired, Patricia Lynn Hough serves as a staff supervisor with St. Francis Animal Rescue and works to ensure that local cats and dogs receive needed medical care and find loving homes. Patricia Lynn Hough has past experience guiding nonprofit health-focused initiatives and humanitarian organizations.

With Proyecto Salud y Vida, where worked as the director of projects for four years, Dr. Hough was responsible for implementing health-related programs in countries ranging from Haiti to El Salvador. These included refurbishing rural clinics, providing medical care and medications to indigent populations, and delivering equipment and surgical teams to hospitals. She also managed grant applications that enabled funding from partner charities and helped build various health care facilities.

In addition, Dr. Hough has extensive experience volunteering with organizations such as the Salvadoran American Humanitarian Foundation and the Salvadoran Association for Rural Health. With the Alexandra Foundation, she coordinated medical donations to hospitals in the West Indies and throughout the Caribbean region. She has plans to volunteer in Africa toward the end of 2016.
